RUD is interested in theories of decision-making under uncertainty, asking how people make or should make decisions in the face of uncertainty. RUD is defined by question as well as method. It emphasizes formal, mathematical approaches to the problem, preferably at a level of generality and abstraction that can serve as a basis for a wide range of applications — both for concrete choice situations and for theoretical work in the social sciences. There is a special interest in the mathematical and philosophical foundations of theories, and, in particular, in axiomatic work. RUD is not wedded to a particular model or class of models, and it encourages new approaches to the problem, including models of bounded rationality. RUD audience is also interested in other methodologies such as empirical and experimental work, neuroscience or philosophical studies.

The past decade has seen significant growth in work on the history of economics since WW2. The availability of source-materials has increased dramatically, new methods have been employed and scholars have looked across disciplinary boundaries. This work has produced insightful contextual histories of the development of economic ideas. We believe that the history of recent economics has developed to such an extent that it is worth bringing researchers together in a meeting devoted specifically to this period, and if this is successful to do so annually. Unlike past years, this year's meeting is a one day workshop.

The organizing committee consists of Roger Backhouse (University of Birmingham), Philippe Fontaine (École normale supérieure de Cachan and Institut universitaire de France) and Yann Giraud (Université de Cergy-Pontoise).

2013‐2014, dans les domaines de la modélisation mathématique et économique de la dynamique, de l'incertitude et des interactions.

The Department of Economics and Business at the University of Cergy-Pontoise
together with the Labex MME-DII invites applications for a position in Econometrics or Theoretical Microeconomics at the level of Full or Associate professor.

JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS :

Applications are invited in all fields of Econometrics or Theoretical Microeconomics. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or doctorate degree in economics and have a well-established record of research and publication. Being able to teach in French is not required but will be appreciated.

The successful candidate will benefit from a reduced teaching load (45 hours/year) during 4 years, will benefit from dedicated research funds (10000 euro/year, over 4 years). He/She is expected to teach at the graduate or undergraduate levels, to supervise doctoral students, to be committed to a state-of-the-art research program, and to provide senior leadership in the department. The position is expected to start on September 1, 2013 (or on a mutually agreed date). The annual salary will be €55,000 – €82,000 before taxes (or €44,000 – €65,000 after taxes), depending on experience and qualification.

The Department of Economics and Business of the University of Cergy-Pontoise is among the best ranked French departments in economics - 5th in France, 44th in Europe, 123rd worldwide. It is located in the Paris area (30 km from Paris).

Please submit a letter of application, a CV, three representative research papers, teaching evaluations (if available), and the names and contact information of three references. Pre-selected candidates will be invited to visit our department and give a seminar talk.

Le Labex MME-DII lance en 2013 plusieurs appels à candidature et à projets de recherche.

Le Labex MME-DII a pour objectif de promouvoir un programme de recherche et d'enseignement intégrés en sciences économiques et en mathématiques, centré sur la modélisation des processus aléatoires, des choix individuels en situation d'incertitude, des interactions entre agents et de la dynamique qui en résulte.. En associant des savoirs aux frontières des connaissances en sciences économiques, en mathématiques et en physique théorique, le laboratoire MME-DII permettra d'éclairer des grands enjeux sociétaux allant de la prévention des crises financières à la gestion des risques environnementaux.
